Cathedral of Girona – Restoration of the silver gothic ensemble
The ensemble of jewelry that had configured the Gothic presbitery of the Cathedral of Girona is the most important example in statewide (and probably in Europe). It consists of a baldachin of silver sail shaped, an altarpiece and three processional crosses (two had been the subject of this restoration).
All pieces are contemporaries and date from the fourteenth century. The restoration project, drawn from the IPCE (Ministry of Culture) provides for the intervention in the ensemble but also for the comprehensive documentation of the whole process. Our participation has been to give graphic support to restorers in phases of documentation and intervention by work constructively conceptualization, vector maps and implementation of R & D for mapping of damage. We have also developed a 15-minute video and divulgation material of the intervention, with the presence of the whole team involved, where you can see the most important moments.
